School has been going well for Lindsey. She has stayed "on green" since school started, but we know it's only a matter of time before her superhero jumps to the yellow building, probably for talking at nap time (her usual offense last year). Lindsey loves having homework, reading her library book, and bragging to Benton about the ice cream at snack time on Fridays. She came home one day with a Scholastic book order form, and the most precious sight was the two of them poring over the booklet, pencils in hand, circling every book that they wanted to read. It's hard to resist children who love books.

This was the morning of school picture day. I'm waiting for the proof to come in to see if her bow did in fact stay in her hair until pictures. |

Today was the first Ole Miss game of the season, and although the forecast called for one million degree temps with one million percent humidity (no exaggeration), we felt like we just had to take all three kids to the first game. Surprisingly, the temp never got above 90 and it was overcast, so it turned out to be good football weather. Unfortunately, the good weather resulted in a bad game for the Black Bears. But the saving grace for the day was the fact that the kids all looked cute. Kate had on the same smocked dress Lindsey wore for her first football season, and I brought a picture to show how eerily similar the two looked. In Lindsey's picture, she has the same dress and the same shining bald head, but she is sitting in front of pumpkins. Several people (including Kate's dad and granddad) looked at the picture of Lindsey and said, "Where'd you get those pumpkins?" Meaning, they thought we took the picture of Kate before heading to Oxford.
Once we had exhausted the Grove, Stephanie and I took the kids to the Square and bribed them with a trip to Square Books if they would let the grown ups shop for a little while. They obliged; we had a good time, and we ended our day with a meal at Ajax. The only way this day could have been better is if the Rebs had pulled out a win. There's always next week for that.
